So J is officially feeding himself everything! It started a few weeks ago with him biting off of things that he could get to his mouth...NOW he is shoving everything into his mouth that is in sight! We have had to break everything into tiny pieces because he will literally shove an entire 1/2 of a sandwich in his mouth if he sees it in front of him! He is quick too! He is getting picky about what he will eat which is new. He will only grab the things he likes. It is SO good to see him have motivation to feed himself and seeing him show what he likes and doesn't like. It is the most incredible feeling ever! He is feeding himself 100% of his food now. He loves bananas, veggie chicken nuggets, graham crackers, cottage cheese, goldfish, cereal bars, grilled cheese, tortillas with cheese, and yogurt. He is doing so well and it is an amazing thing to celebrate!
Yesterday he spent an entire session of speech therapy without crying! It is such a milestone for him. He was just playing and laughing with her. She is one of those people that you can just "feel" is a good person. She is really good with J and very patient. His physical therapist has been able to get him to stand for about 5-10 seconds at a time. He is doing a great job and we are so proud of him for everything he is doing and trying.
He is a little book worm too. Two of my kids gave him books for Valentine's Day. He has already grabbed them (and tried to eat them) over and over. My kids love him so much. They ask about him all the time and want to see pictures of him too. It is so sweet. I took him to a school function-a Sock Hop-and he was SO overwhelmed by all of the kids wanting to look at him and make him smile. His "stranger danger" (sad, sad, sad cry when he sees someone he doesn't know) is working in overdrive right now. He is frightened of so many people. It is interesting thinking about how the "average" baby gets stranger anxiety at around 9-10 months and since J is about 6 months behind on everything he is getting that same anxiety on his own time table. I was hoping he would just skip it all together but it just goes to show that he is developing because he is showing preference for things.
We are going out on our 2nd annual family Valentine's date on Saturday. What a difference a year makes. I promise to post some pictures and a video of him this weekend. I am off track for the next 3 week! YAY! Now I have all the time in the world to hang out and love on my little boy!
